Screening and Panel: The Women of Titmouse Animation: The Inbetweens of Education, Employment & Everyday Life

Following a new short documentary, The Women of Titmouse Animation: The Inbetweens of Education, Employment & Everyday Life, this panel explores issues discussed in the film, including the role of mentors in career development and how to challenge the lack of representation in the animation industry. Panelists will share their experiences from the classroom to their career, offering advice to young animators.

Moderator: Chrissy Guest, Filmmaker, Assistant Professor, Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies, Ithaca College

Chrissy Guest (M.F.A, Full Sail University, 2011) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Media Arts, Sciences, and Studies at Ithaca College. She instructs a broad range of television production courses. Her broadcast career spans over a decade in television production as a photojournalist, assignment editor and director for local news affiliates. Guest’s research centers on career trajectory for women entering the animation field. Her current documentary film project, Beyond Ink & Paint: The Women of Animation examines the studio culture surrounding women working in animation within the United States.  Guest continues her research conducting filmed interviews with prominent women working across varying animation disciplines to preserve the full frame of animation history.

Kirsten Lepore, Independent Animator and Director. Creator of the viral hit “Hi Stranger.”

Kirsten Lepore is an LA-based director and animator, and alumna of CalArts. Her recent viral hit “Hi Stranger” garnered upwards of 200 million views online, and her stop-motion episode of Adventure Time won a 2016 Emmy & Annie award. Her other films have taken top prizes at SXSW, Slamdance, and many other international festivals. She has worked with clients such as Google, MTV, Facebook, Mini Cooper, Toyota, Whole Foods, Nestle, and many more. Kirsten has given talks everywhere from Pixar to Portugal and has also been featured in Juxtapoz, Shots, and was named one of the 50 most creative people by Creativity Magazine.

Amanda McCann, Line Producer on Costume Quest, Frederator Networks, Inc.

Amanda McCann has been working in animation production for nearly a decade, working on such shows as The Ricky Gervais Show for HBO, Hasbro's GI Joe: Renegades, Sanjay and Craig at Nickelodeon, and is currently the Line Producer on a new series for Amazon called, Costume Quest. Along with her production experience, Amanda is also a professional writer and has written for The Simpsons comic book series, Monster High webisodes for Mattel, and Netflix's Ask the StoryBots. As a seasoned comedian and improvisor, Amanda has also enjoyed a career in voiceover, acting in variety of animated shows and web series.

Shannon Prynoski - VP and Supervising Producer, Titmouse

Born in the Bronx, Shannon Prynoski, Titmouse, Inc. co-owner and vice president, grew up unsupervised as the daughter of a sculptor and an English teacher on the streets of NYC. Her arts and animation career began at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where she studied film and met Chris Prynoski. Prior to establishing Titmouse Inc. with Chris, she was a color stylist freelancer, a celebrity photo editor for Outline Press and a production manager on several Captain Crunch commercials. Shannon served as a Producer for projects including The Black Panther, Superjail!, The Venture Bros., Metalocalypse, China IL, Turbo FAST, Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, Moonbeam City, and the studio’s first feature film, Nerdland. She is an accomplished painter and proud of her ginormous collection of female action figures. 

Helen Saric, Production Manager/Production supervisor. Currently working for Wink Productions

Helen Saric has spent the last two decades working for various animation studios including Disney Feature Animation, Dreamworks, and Paramount. Her credits include The Croods, Home and Futurama.  She has spent the last two years working in various production capacities for Wink Productions, an independent animation studio based in Burbank, CA.

Sakari Singh, Illustrator and Storyboard Artist, Titmouse, Inc.

Sakari Singh is an illustrator, storyboard artist and thrift store enthusiast. She moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Los Angeles, California to pursue a career in animation. Her credits include China IL, Big Mouth, and Community. As a freelancer Sakari has also created music videos and promotional material for artists such as Tegan and Sara, Junglepussy, and RuPauls Drag Race season 5 winner Jinkx Monsoon.
